Isabelle Gatto-Sandri’s career demonstrates an exemplary loyalty to her region and her art. By choosing watercolor as her primary medium, she has transformed what could be a simple illustrative technique into a powerful tool for memory and contemplation. Her publications, whether they depict the city of Troyes, the wash houses of the Aube region, or the cycles of nature in Champagne, form a coherent body of work that documents the fragile beauty of our environment. Her membership in the French Watercolor Society and her constant presence in the department’s cultural life make her a leading ambassador of the Aube identity. Having recently settled in Auxon, she is opening a new chapter in her work, focused on wild nature and rural well-being, promising new chromatic discoveries in the years to come. Her work, both accessible and technically demanding, reminds us that art has this essential function: to teach us to see the world around us more clearly.
