The 7th June at 2.00PM

Théâtre : Une après-midi récréative

Sunday, June 7: PALIS – Theater: A recreational afternoon. At 2 p.m. in the village hall. A recreational afternoon: three theatrical performances of approximately 50 minutes each. Following the Skénado festival in the Troyes area, students in the “Arts-Theater” option and specialization at Lycée Édouard Herriot will present three plays: a varied repertoire, two contemporary plays, and a vaudeville by an absolute master of comedy, showcasing young talents, some of whom are already quite established. – The Storyteller by Alexis Michalik (Theater option in 10th grade): This play, created and directed by Alexis Michalik (author of the successful plays Edmond, A Love Story, The Illusionists’ Circle, and Intramuros), which won two Molière Awards in 2014, pays homage to the many fabulous stories that foster the imagination, such as those of Alexandre Dumas. Upon his father’s death, Martin discovers a handwritten notebook that will turn his life upside down and lead him on a wild adventure through space and time. – The Weight of Ants by David Paquet (Arts-Theater option and specialization in 11th grade): Jeanne, passionate and angry, and Olivier, worried and shy, both anxious and devastated by the state of the world, mobilize within their high school during “Future Week” to combat the prevailing passivity and try to change things. David Paquet offers, in an offbeat way, his vision of adolescence, which, in the midst of catastrophe, dares to resist and impose its dreams. – An Italian Straw Hat by Eugène Labiche (Arts-Theater option and specialization in 12th grade): On the very morning of his wedding, Fadinard’s horse eats the straw hat of a certain Anaïs while she was with her lover. The couple demands redress: the hat must be replaced with an identical one because the husband is jealous and could become violent if he learned the circumstances of its disappearance. Fadinard then embarks on a frantic chase to find a hat that matches the one he accidentally swallowed. His quest leads him into a series of misunderstandings and increasingly unusual encounters, with the entire wedding party—unaware of his motives—in hot pursuit! – Directors/Performers: Camille Cuisinier for the first play and François Cancelli for the other two (Compagnie La Strada). – Drama Teachers: Nathalie Noly for the 10th grade drama option and Florence Roché for 11th and 12th grade. During the intermissions, a post-show discussion will be offered: you can chat with the actors, performers, and teachers. A few small sweet treats will also be offered, as well as a friendly drink during the second intermission around 4:30 pm.
