Othe Armance Festival, with its traveling festival, presents: We knew Lucien Cheenne for his furious beginnings in the punk and alternative scene. What hasn’t changed is the intensity. But today, it’s expressed differently: through the language, the voice, the arrangements. Rock is still there, lurking in the shadows, but it’s adorned with folk reflections, psychedelic touches, and above all, a completely personal lyricism. Listening to tracks like “Derrière l’amour” (Behind Love) — a moving declaration from a son to his father, forty years later — or “Les écorchés” (The Flayed Ones), simplicity and excess coexist.
