Located in the heart of the Pays d’Othe region, the village of Bérulle captivates visitors with its authentic charm and rich heritage. Considered one of the most picturesque villages in the Forêt d’Othe, Bérulle offers a preserved setting where culture, nature, and traditions intertwine. Its elegant 16th-century church, a listed historical monument, boasts remarkable stained-glass windows, while the Sainte-Reine chapel, nestled in a verdant setting, recalls an ancient pilgrimage site whose tradition continues to this day. The village can also be explored through its wash houses, old municipal wells, and shaded walking paths. The Sentier du Fer (Iron Trail), a 6km walk of approximately two hours marked in white and blue, allows visitors to admire the church spire overlooked by the chalk quarry and to enjoy a landscape recognized for its artistic, historical, and picturesque significance. The pilgrims’ path (2km) leads to the Sainte-Reine Chapel, while the Cossack path (3km) loops around the ravine where, in 1865, a villager murdered a Cossack who had taken refuge there. Finally, Bérulle also showcases its local expertise: a visit to the L & S Hendrickx farm, cider producers, offers a glimpse into the agricultural heritage of the Pays d’Othe region.
